Overview

Turkana also called the cradle of mankind.

Kenya’s North is a desert county-Turkana: hot, parched and broken by volcanic activity, where ancient blackened lava flows and endless thorn trees stretch from horizon to horizon.it is here where the discovery of human remains where discovered.

Turkana is Kenya’s first oilfield. Discovered in 2012 by the Anglo-Irish firm Tullow, estimated oil in place has reached over three billion barrels and counting. The discovery of oil in Turkana was a major breakthrough in oil exploration and has brought a flurry of issues to a part of Kenya that has been forgotten from the first time the white man set foot in East Africa. Oil appears to have raised the profile of Turkana in Kenya and globally.
